Saint Patrick’s Day
March 17

Saint Patrick’s Day is a cultural and religious holiday in honour of Saint Patrick, the patron Saint of Ireland. Besides its religious significance, this date is now widely known for celebrating Irish cultural heritage. Irish immigrants brought the Saint Patrick celebrations to Canada in the early 19th century. Nowadays there are still many local Irish or Celtic committees in Canada that keep the Saint Patrick tradition alive, organizing parades and other activities. On Saint Patrick’s Day in Canada everybody becomes (a little) Irish. The typical green color, shamrocks and other Irish symbols can be seen everywhere
