Hummingbird Nectar

Ingredients

To make the best hummingbird nectar recipe, you’ll need the following:

• 4 cups of water
• 1 cup of granulated table sugar
• A hummingbird feeder
• Spoon or whisk
• Saucepan or pot
• Pitcher

Description

Hummingbirds thrive on a nectar recipe that simulates the natural sugar content found in flowers, providing them with a nutritious and digestible energy source. While they also consume insects, pollen, and fruit, a simple homemade sugar water solution is their favorite treat to attract these vibrant birds to your garden.. 

Preparation

1. Combine 1 cup of plain white granulated table sugar and 4 cups of water in a saucepan or pot. (This is the 1:4 ratio.)
2. Slowly heat the solution on your stovetop until it boils, but do not overboil. Turn off the stove, whisk the sugar until it dissolves, then immediately remove the pot from the stove.
3. Allow the solution to cool completely before filling feeders. Pour the cooled solution into a pitcher or other container and use it to fill the feeder.
