Zimtsterne (Cinnamon Stars)

- 5 egg whites
- 500g powdered sugar
- 200g ground almonds
- 250g ground hazelnuts
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground cloves

Prep Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 35 mins
- Preheat oven to 320°F
- Beat egg whites until stiff, then gradually beat in powdered sugar. Set aside1/5 of the mixture for glazing.
- Fold in nuts and spices and knead into a smooth dough.
- Roll the dough between two sheets of plastic wrap using ground nuts to prevent sticking.
- Cut out star shapes and place on baking sheet.
- Spread glaze on top of each cookie. Bake for about 35 minutes – the cookies should dry rather than brown.
- Store in a tin once cooked.
